Irving will choose from 6 schools

The Jersey guard announced that he will be choosing from a list of 6 schools.

“It didn’t come down to five, it came down to six schools and the six schools are Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall and UConn,” said Irving, a 6-foot-1 point guard out of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick ranked No. 9 in the Class of 2010 by Rivals.

As had been reported earlier, two of those schools seem to lead for Irving.

“Duke and Indiana are definites,” he said, “but I don’t have definite dates for them yet. But those are definitely two schools that I’m going to give officials to.”

Speaking of the Tigers, Memphis got some good news Friday from the NCAA. Former Duke guard Elliot Williams was granted permission to immediately play for the Tigers this season.

Andre Dawkins to enroll at Duke, Kyrie Irving update

Dawkins officially to Duke
The Duke backcourt got a much-needed boost this weekend after it was officially announced that Andre Dawkins will be enrolling at Duke a year early.

“We were like, ‘Well, they only have two guards now,’” said Dawkins’ father, also named Andre. “I ran the question by him and asked him, ‘If you could go now, would you want to?’ And he thought about it and said yes. So we put in a call to the Duke coaches and they became excited about the possibility.”

Barnes recruiting Irving for Duke?
According to Zagsblog.com, Harrison Barnes has recently been trying to convince Kyrie Irving to join him in Durham. However, Tom Crean and IU are hoping to get to Irving first.

Duke is also recruiting Brandon Knight as well as Irving, but IU has made Irving its priority from the beginning, the source said.

Indiana coaches tell Irving that he can be the man at that school and the “face of what Indiana basketball is bringing back.”

This is going to be a tough year. One loss and your season is over. I don’t see this being one of those years where you can still squeak in to the title game with two or more losses.

SC has a fairly tough schedule this year (OSU, Cal, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Oregon State all are potential top 25 teams). Not to mention Stanford, and the Arizona schools should be halfway decent this year. SC isn’t going unbeaten and it’s fairly likely they drop 2-3 games this year. I think they drop 2 of the 5 games between OSU/Cal/ND/Oregon/OSU, and possibly a game no one expects (par for the course since Leinart/Bush left). Lost too much experience on both sides of the ball. Defense should be good but offense will struggle at times.

Mountain West has three top 25 teams, and the Big East has 0. This has to help the Mountain West’s argument for BCS placement.. especially if they can lure Boise State out of the WAC.
